description
This mod introduces real vehicle breakdowns based on component wear and tear.
Components are linked to operating hours, for example, the thermostat may fail after 150 hours of use.
The system monitors the vehicle's operating temperature. If the engine is too cold, the vehicle may suffer damage.
When starting the vehicle, if the engine temperature hasn't reached above 30°C, the vehicle may be damaged, which can be tracked via the damage info bar.
Currently, it's unclear if only the engine or also engine-related parts will be affected in such cases.
The mod is currently in Beta.
Service and repair costs are calculated based on the vehicle's purchase price and age.
To open the Real Vehicle Breakdowns (RVB) menu, use the key combination 'Left Alt + W' (default).
List of potential failures:
- Thermostat failure (overheating or overcooling) leading to increased fuel consumption and vehicle damage.
- Malfunctioning front and rear lights (turn signals and hazard lights remain functional).
- Glow plug failure, making the engine harder to start and increasing fuel consumption.
- Windscreen wiper motor failure (may cause additional issues in the future).
- Generator failure, preventing the battery from charging.
- Engine failure, limiting the vehicle's speed to 7 km/h.
- Starter failure, making the engine difficult or impossible to start.
- Battery issues, making the engine difficult or impossible to start.
- Service interval, if exceeded, causes vehicle damage.
Battery discharge causes:
- Leaving the lights on after turning off the engine.
- Generator failure.
The battery can be recharged in the workshop or by running the engine with a functional generator.
In the RVB menu, you can set how often vehicles require servicing.
Repair costs are based on the vehicle's purchase value, though this may change to include a minimum repair cost for underpriced vehicles.
