The Ulysses Class Multi-Vector Recon Frigate is a combat capable force recon vessel designed for scouting planets ahead of colonisation.

A unique vessel, the Ulysses is actually two ships in one. Using Multi-Vector technology, the Ulysses class features a heavily armoured, moderately armed, jump capable Stardrive section, and a lightly armoured, lightly armed, atmosphere capable Lander section. When connected, the frigate can travel into system with an impressive jump range of over 3000km, and locate planets suitable for outpost construction or colonisation.

Once in standard orbit, the six person crew divides into two teams; the naval officers - who remain aboard the Stardrive for defense and operations control - and the recon team - who board the Lander for planetside ops. Once the vessels disconnect, the Stardrive can remain in ship configuration, or become a temporary station. As a station, the Lander docking area can be easily converted to serve as a construction drydock in order to build miners, cargo shuttles, or whatever is required for the mission. The Lander team can set up on the planet's surface to begin outpost construction, or to survey and secure the area for future colonisation.


Notes: This ship is designed for a crew of 6. It uses a number of mods, including Azimuth weapons, Azimuth remastered and mega mod pack, console pack, assault weapons, deuterium reactors, Azimuth thrusters, tiered jump drives, Flare's tiered Hydrogen thrusters, tiered thermal thrusters, and rotary airlocks. I think that's all for the mods, but I apologise if I missed any. There are also weapons and ammunition aboard the lander for the crew - I believe they're from the hand weapons light mod pack - but these are not essential for the ship.

The Ulysses class was built in two sections and uses merge blocks to combine into one ship (to disconnect simply turn off one of the blocks and switch it back on to reconnect). As it was built in two parts, both sections feature their own repair projector. Primary access to the Lander is via a ladder leading to the side airlocks, while primary access to the Stardrive is via two airlocks in the docking area. Once the ships are connected, the Lander crew can board the stardrive from one of two airlocks at the rear of the upper deck, which line up with the Stardrive's airlocks. However, to avoid problems when connecting the two ships, there is a one block wide gap between the Lander airlocks and the Stardrive airlocks. It was a two block gap, but I placed a grated platform to reduce the distance.

Both ships come with full Hydrogen and Oxygen tanks, fully charged reactors, full hydrogen/oxygen generators, and fully loaded weapons with plentiful ammo in reserve. All weapons and tanks are easily accessible for restocking. This ship is fully survival ready!

Warning: disabling thruster damage is probably a good idea!
