This is a ship that splits in 2 and has a large bay inside. Its a little temper mental in that if you dont have one gyro set to override but nothing else changed it jitters. Can turn and pitch fine but you need to disable the extra gyro from the command chair to roll effectively.
a ship with 14368 pcu as a home base with a large cargo bay and about everything i need for survival.
the cargo bay has room for multiple ships and under i was planning to deploy a mobile drill rover with a collapse-able drill. Still working on that but the idea is the piston goes down and connector locks to the rig, then it pulls it back up and i may use a merge block to keep it stable in transit. Not sure yet.
tested this rig and works in Space as well as earth like planet. I tried variations with merge blocks instead but it tore itself apart. Controls for the bay door are in the bay itself. Not airtight. ( tried to do so but only version i found that worked and still opened caused ship to spin out of control but worked with stations. Will post that up if anyones interested. But basically used merge blocks and edges that link but dont stay connected when a merge block is disabled. Pretty cool but wont work for a ship sadly. )
dont try to fly with the bay open as it will make clang very happy to come visit and best not to add any more weight to the door side. Also has one door no air loss airlocks on x box anyways but that will likely be patched at some point, but works for now. Was an accidental discovery but a handy one.
