description
- Download the .psd file from this mod
- Open it in your preferred image editing sortware
- Edit the skin and add tattoos using the guide layer
- Once you are done making the skin save it somewhere easy to find (the name/format of the file does not matter but I prefer to use the .png format)
- Open Unity Asset Bundle Extractor (download here: https://github.com/DerPopo/UABE/releases)
- Once you have downloaded the file extract it
- Open the newly extracted folder
- Open the AssetBundleExtractor application file
- Click File > Open > navigate to your SkaterXL folder inside your steam directory. For most people this will be C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Skater XL but if you cannot find yours open Steam and go into your library, right click SkaterXL > Properties > Local Files tab > Browse Local Files. This will show you where your game is saved.
- Open the SkaterXL_Data folder
- Scroll down and find the file called resources.assets > open
- On the new screen click the Name header to sort the list alphabetically > scroll through the list and find the file called MaleBody_Light
- With this file selected hit the Plugins button > select Edit > OK > click the Load button next to Texture > find the new skin file you made earlier and open it
- Now click OK on the previous window > File > Save > save the file to your desktop DO NOT rename this file
- Once it is saved click OK in the asset extractor window, you can now close the extractor
- Go to your desktop and copy the resource file you just created
- Open your SkaterXL steam directory where you grabbed the resourse.assets file from using the extractor
- Paste the file > replace the old file
- Open SkaterXL and your character will now be using the newly made skin
This whole process must be done every time you want to change the character skin, so be prepared to spend a bit of time getting your design 100% to your liking. However since you now have a resourse.assets file saved to your desktop you can just use this when loading the new skin via the extractor instead of needing to navigate to your steam directory every time. Just save the new file over the one on your desktop each time so you can simply copy and paste it to your steam directory to install the skin to your game.
Currently the way the skin is applied in game there will be some hard seems on the character model such as the back of the arm, but there is nothing we can do about that at this point in time, you will just need to tweak your designs to fit so that there is no visible seem.
